Stuart Hoerisch

Stuart was born in the Barossa Valley on Ngadjuri land and is a qualified secondary school Art and Design teacher who has worked in the Mid North and Barossa Valley region for over 20 years.

He is a prolific artist and has exhibited widely in the Barossa and Clare Valley districts in local and regional Art Galleries as well as in cellar doors and wineries across the region. His work has sold locally, interstate and internationally and over the years he has moved from disciplined, illustrative, realistic work to concentrate more on intuitive, expressive abstract works.

He is also highly skilled in pen and ink studies and has exhibited a range of works focused on derelict farm ruins and detailed life drawing pieces. Over the past 20 years Stuart has created pieces of Australian landscape and the emotions and moods these environments offer him.

His works are very much ‘landscape inspired’ rather than literal depictions and they portray his own personal connections with the land.
